If you have booked a cleaning company in Dubai this summer, there is one law worth knowing about. It is called the midday break rule, and it shapes how every professional company in the UAE schedules outdoor work between June and September. Here is what the rule says, what it means for your booking with us, and what happens if the timing of your clean falls inside the protected window.
What the midday break rule says
The midday break is a national rule from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). In 2026 it runs from 15 June to 15 September, and it is the 22nd year in a row the UAE has applied it.
During those three months, work carried out under direct sunlight or in open-air areas is not permitted between 12:30pm and 3:00pm, every single day. Employers must also provide shade, drinking water and a proper place to rest for anyone working outdoors through the summer. Companies that break the rule face fines that start at 5,000 AED per worker and can reach 50,000 AED, and anyone can report a violation to MOHRE on 600 590000.
We think it is one of the best rules in the country. Dubai regularly passes 45°C at midday in August, and no clean window is worth risking a person's health for. We follow the rule fully, and we plan every summer route around it.

What it means for your booking, service by service
The important part for you as a client is simple. The rule covers outdoor work only. Your home's interior is shaded and air conditioned, so indoor cleaning carries on as normal right through the midday window.
| Service | Between 12:30pm and 3:00pm |
|---|---|
| Housekeeping and maid service | Runs as normal |
| Deep cleaning (interior) | Runs as normal |
| Sofa, carpet and mattress cleaning | Runs as normal |
| Ironing | Runs as normal |
| AC filters and vents | Runs as normal |
| Interior window sides | Runs as normal |
| Exterior window cleaning | Scheduled before 12:30pm or after 3:00pm |
| Solar panel cleaning | Scheduled before 12:30pm or after 3:00pm |
| Patio, garden and pergola cleaning | Scheduled before 12:30pm or after 3:00pm |
| Garage and driveway cleaning | Outdoor parts move outside the window |
| Water tank cleaning | Rooftop access scheduled outside the window |

Booked us between 12:30pm and 3:00pm? Here is what happens
Nothing dramatic, and nothing is cancelled. It works like this:
- Indoor services go ahead exactly as booked. A 1:00pm housekeeping or deep cleaning visit is completely unaffected. Most of our summer middays are spent doing exactly this.
- Mixed jobs are sequenced around the window. If your booking includes both indoor and outdoor tasks, for example a deep clean plus exterior windows, the team simply works the outdoor part before 12:30pm or after 3:00pm and stays productive inside during the break. You get the same finished result on the same day.
- Fully outdoor jobs are offered the nearest approved slot. If you request exterior windows, solar panels or a patio clean at, say, 1:00pm in July, we will not quietly accept and then stand your crew in the sun. We come back to you straight away and propose an approved time instead, either a morning start between 8:00am and 12:30pm or an afternoon session from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. If the same day does not work, we book the next session at a time that suits you.
- No fees, no fuss. Moving an outdoor task to an approved slot is never treated as a change on your side. It is simply how summer scheduling works, and our booking team handles it for you.
Morning slots are the most popular for exterior work in summer, because the glass and stone are cooler and drying conditions are gentler. If your outdoor clean can wait for a morning, it is usually worth it.
Why we are strict about this
The obvious reason is that it is the law, and we are a licensed Dubai company. The better reason is that the people who care for your home deserve care too. Through the summer our crews carry cold water on every route, rest in shade between jobs, and rotate outdoor tasks so nobody spends long stretches in the heat even outside the protected hours.
There is a practical upside for you as well. A crew that is rested and hydrated at 3:00pm does sharper, safer work on your villa than one that has been standing on hot stone through the hottest part of the day. Protecting the team protects your result.
The dates to remember
| Rule period in 2026 | 15 June to 15 September |
| Protected hours | 12:30pm to 3:00pm, every day |
| Outdoor work slots | 8:00am to 12:30pm, and 3:00pm to 7:00pm |
| Indoor cleaning | Unaffected, all day |
After 15 September the full day opens up again for outdoor work, and the autumn rush for exterior windows and post-summer deep cleans begins almost immediately. If your villa needs its glass, solar panels or patio brought back to life, booking a late September slot early is never a bad idea.
Until then, if your booking touches the midday window, you now know exactly what we will do, and why the crew cleaning your home in August looks after itself as carefully as it looks after your villa.
