Step-by-step: how to clean tinted windows

- Hard-water spots. Mix one part white vinegar to ten parts distilled water, apply only to the affected area, and rinse with plain water within about a minute. Never let vinegar sit on the film edges.
- Adhesive residue. Do not use a razor blade. Apply a tint-safe adhesive remover to a cloth first, then dab gently. Never spray it directly onto the window.
- Fingerprint oils. A microfibre cloth lightly dampened with diluted isopropyl alcohol works on most modern ceramic tints. Use it sparingly and buff dry immediately.

- Wait before cleaning new tint. Give fresh film at least 30 days to cure. Cleaning too early can shift it or trap water pockets.
- Never steam clean tinted glass. High heat softens the adhesive and can distort or shrink the film.
