The first cool evening in Dubai always arrives before anyone is ready for it. The doors get opened, somebody suggests eating outside, and then everyone looks at the patio properly for the first time since May.
Dubai's outdoor months run roughly from October through to April. Evenings become usable through October, and full days follow as November settles in. That gives you a short, specific window right now, the last week of September into the first week of October, to reset the outside of the house before it is wanted rather than after.
Here is the order we use, and the reasoning behind it, because the order is where most people lose a day's work.
Work top down, and do the floor last
This is the one that matters. Almost everyone starts with the patio tiles, because the floor is the thing that looks worst. Then they clean the pergola, and everything that comes off it lands on the floor they just finished.
The professional order runs the other way:
1. Overhead first. The pergola frame and slats, any canopy or shade sail, soffits, outdoor light fittings and ceiling fans. This is where a summer of dust, cobwebs and bird mess actually sits, and all of it comes down. 2. Then vertical. Boundary walls, privacy screens, balustrades, the outside face of the glass doors, and the window frames and tracks. 3. Then the floor. Patio and terrace tiles, the pool surround, garden paths and the driveway, once nothing above them is going to drop anything else. 4. Furniture back in last, cleaned separately while the hard surfaces dry.
One pass in that order takes less time than two passes in the wrong one, and the finish holds.
What five months of summer actually did out there
It is not just dust. A Dubai summer does specific things to an outdoor space, and knowing which ones apply to your villa tells you what the job really is.

Pressure, or something gentler
Not every outdoor surface wants a pressure washer. Natural stone, older grout, painted render and wood all suffer under a lance held too close, and a pergola almost never needs high pressure at all.
The judgement is per surface: high pressure for concrete driveways, paving and garage floors, a softer wash with the right cleaning agent for stone, render, wood and anything with grout that has already started to go. The bits that get forgotten every year
The patio gets remembered. These do not, and each one is small on its own.
- Mosquito nets. A Dubai summer of direct UV leaves mesh brittle, and the season you actually want nets is the season you are about to open the doors for. Push a finger gently against one, and if it gives rather than springs back it is done. Replacement is from 150 AED per window in premium epoxy-coated mesh, which resists rust in this climate.
- The BBQ. A grill that sat out through summer needs more than a wire brush before anyone cooks on it. We clean it as an add-on alongside the patio work.
- Artificial grass. It mats down and holds odour after months of heat. Brushing and sanitising is an add-on, and it changes how the whole garden reads.
- Outdoor light fittings. Full of dust and insects, and they are what you actually see once the evenings get used.
- The garage. It is the outdoor room nobody counts. Oil stains, cobwebs, and a floor that has not been washed since spring. Garage cleaning is quoted on size and condition, and a standard single-car garage is usually a one to two hour job.
Inside changes too, the moment the doors open
The outdoor season is really a change in how the house is used, and two indoor jobs follow it.
Window tracks. The doors that stayed shut all summer start sliding daily, and every grain of compacted sand in the track grinds against the runner. Basic cleaning of the tracks and rails, along with the frames, is included when interior and exterior window cleaning are booked together, because a track can only be cleared properly when both faces of the glass and door are being worked on. Curtains. The ones by the garden doors hung closed against the heat for months and hold that still, warm air. Curtain cleaning is done on site with steam and hot-water extraction, and taking them down and re-installing them is part of the service, so there is nothing for you to lift.

What we need from you on the day
Outdoor work has one requirement that indoor work does not, and it is worth saying plainly because it is the most common reason a booking gets rescheduled on the doorstep.
We need running water and a working outdoor socket that can carry a professional machine, and because outdoor cleaning puts water near electricity, external sockets need to be weatherproof and splash-protected. If a socket is dead, switched off at a board you cannot reach, or reserved for something else, tell us in writing before the session is confirmed and point it out to the team on arrival. We will plan around it. What we cannot do is find out at nine in the morning with the machines already unloaded.
Book it before the week everyone else does
The pattern is the same every year. The weather turns over a weekend, and on the Monday everybody in the community decides the patio needs doing. The teams that were free the week before are not free that week.
Late September into early October is the quiet window, and one visit resets the whole outside.
One thing worth being plain about, because it is easy to assume otherwise. Outdoor work is a specialist job rather than maid work. It runs with its own crew, pressure washers and outdoor equipment, and it is priced on the job, not by the hour, so the hourly housekeeping rates elsewhere on this site do not apply to it.
