Mosquito Nets in Dubai: Check for Holes Before the Rain

An open sliding window in a Dubai villa bedroom with a mosquito screen that has a small torn hole near the bottom

The best time of year in Dubai has started. The evenings are cool, the AC can rest, and the windows are open again. That is exactly when a small hole in a mosquito net starts to matter, because every open window is now a way in.

Check your nets now, while the weather is dry. Here is how, in five minutes.

Why now, before the rain

Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water. Winter rain in Dubai leaves plenty of it: puddles on the patio, water in plant saucers, a pool cover, a blocked drain. Within a week or two of a rainy day, there are more mosquitoes around the house, just as the windows are open the most.

So the order matters. Fix the nets in the dry weeks, and the rain season starts with every window sealed. Wait until the first bites, and everyone is booking at the same time.

The five-minute check

Walk around the house and look at every net, window by window and door by door.

  1. Look against the light. Stand inside and look out through the mesh. Holes and tears show up as bright spots.
  2. Run your hand along the edges. The mesh should be held tightly in the frame. If it has pulled away at a corner or along a side, insects get in there.
  3. Press the mesh gently. Good mesh springs back. Mesh that feels stiff, cracks or turns powdery has been damaged by the sun and will tear soon.
  4. Slide it closed. The frame should close fully against the window, with no gap at the side or bottom.
  5. Check the doors. Sliding doors to the garden take the most wear, from feet, pets and children. Look low down.

Note how many nets have a problem. That number is all you need for a price.

Small tear or new net?

A single small hole in mesh that is still tight and flexible can be patched. Mesh that is brittle, faded, loose in the frame or torn in several places needs replacing, because a patch will not hold. Our guide on when to repair and when to replace goes into more detail.

What a replacement includes

Our mosquito net replacement is from 150 AED per window:

  • The old, damaged net removed
  • New epoxy-coated mesh, rust-resistant and made for Dubai's sun
  • Measured, cut and fitted to your frame
  • A quality check on every net

Doors and larger or non-standard panels are quoted on the day, and a whole-villa replacement is priced as a set.

Keep the mosquitoes away outside too

New nets do most of the work. A few habits help after rain:

  • Empty plant saucers, buckets and anything that holds water
  • Sweep standing water off the patio and balcony
  • Keep drains clear so water does not collect
  • Cover or drain anything left outside

Book it while it is dry

Send us the number of windows and doors that need new nets on WhatsApp, with a photo of one frame, and we confirm your price the same day. Many clients add it to a window cleaning visit, so the glass and the nets are done together.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my mosquito net needs replacing?

Look for holes, mesh pulling away from the frame, and mesh that feels stiff or cracks when you press it. Any of these means insects can get in, or soon will.

How much does mosquito net replacement cost in Dubai?

From 150 AED per window with premium epoxy-coated mesh, supplied and fitted. Doors and larger panels are quoted on the day.

Why replace mosquito nets before the rain?

Mosquitoes breed in standing water, and rain leaves a lot of it around villas. Fixing the nets in the dry weeks means every window is sealed when the mosquitoes arrive.

How long do mosquito nets last in Dubai?

The sun is hard on mesh here. Standard fibreglass mesh often goes brittle within a few years. Epoxy-coated mesh lasts longer in Dubai's heat and does not rust.

Do you replace nets on sliding doors?

Yes. Door screens wear out fastest, and they are quoted on the day because their sizes vary.

Can you do it at the same time as my window cleaning?

Yes. It is a popular pairing, because the windows are being handled anyway and it saves a second appointment.
